Simple and Deep, a Podcast Begins
Brene Brown says, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
This podcast was birthed out of my own healing journey, as I’ve discovered the joy and beauty found integrating every part of my story. It is a story of finding myself at a crossroads of sorts, perhaps you’ve been there, too. A moment where you had to decide, “from this moment on”-no matter what, I won’t quit, I won’t back down from the hard things and I’ll keep walking. Great stories are often about ordinary people becoming the hero of their own stories. But every hero needs helpers along the way. Those who come alongside us to encourage, teach and remind us that we have value and significance. My hope and prayer for you is simple and deep. To love others, we must first learn to love ourselves.
Frankly, I think that after we die, we have this wide understanding of what’s real. And we’ll probably say, ‘Ah, so that’s what it was all about.
We are all on a journey, a hero's journey...think about your favorites...Wizard of Oz, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Anne of Green Gables, etc. All our favorite characters end up on a quest to learn more about themselves. To heal. To set others free. To give the world a deeper glimpse into what makes us universal.
What have you learned along the way?
Who can beside you and encouraged you?
In our first episode of Simple and Deep, I reflect back on two people that were used to, as Fred Rogers said, "loved me into being.": my Grandmother, Eileen Woodfill and "Smiley" George Matthews.
